XVI Symposium of the International Dostoevsky Society – Notes from Eger
Between 7 and 10 June, 2016 the University of Granada hosted the most prestigious event in Dostoevsky studies: the 16th triennial conference of the International Dostoevsky Society. Among the more than 150 participants – five of them Hungarian – Angelika Reichmann, professor of the Department of English Studies at Eszterházy Károly College, also presented the results of her latest research. Her talk was devoted to the intertextual analysis of Nobel Prize awardee J.M. Coetzee's 1999 novel Disgrace in the light of Dostoevsky's Devils (1871). Held in an incomparably beautiful environment, the conference proved to be a highly inspiring intellectual experience, presenting a great variety of critical approaches to Dostoevsky's art and occasionally fuelling heated academic debates in a truly Dostoevskian spirit of dialogue.
