”Wine Culture and Wine Gastronomy” summer university

The Eszterhazy Karoly University organises its Wine Culture and Wine Gastronomy summer university for the second time this year. Following the good experience of last year’s event this time Beijing Union University our partner institution from China has sent a group of nine students and a teacher.

During the three-week course participants can meet the wine regions of Eger, Tokaj and Mátra on several campuses of the University (Eger, Sárospatak, Gyöngyös). The Chinese students can improve their foreign language and culinary skills in the English language courses and learn more about wine culture as well.


The students learn through practical sessions. They visit several cellars and vineyards and also prepare the adequate food for the wine. The main goal of the summer university is to make these students "ambassadors" of the Hungarian wine culture in China in the future. Their program includes a range of free-time activities as well: they visit the attractions, the historical sights and natural heritage of Eger, Sárospatak and Gyöngyös area.


Dr. Kalman Liptai, the Legal Appointed Representative of the institution opened the Summer School program on 1st August in the Conference Hall of the Lyceum.


After Györgyi Hernádi greeting the participants on behalf of the Foreign Language Institute,
Dr. Lajos Gál who is responsible for the program informed the students about the main topics and locations of the courses.
Dr. Zoltán Bujdosó, the Director of the Education and Research of Gyöngyös Campus presented the program elements to take place in Gyöngyös.
Finally the Chinese students introduced themselves and their sending institution, the Beijing Union University.


Krisztina Szőke, international coordinator from the Center for International Relations, the organizing coordinator of the summer university closed the official welcoming event and took the group on a tour in the Lyceum building.
