EAIE 2018 in Geneva

Last modified: 2018. September 20.

The 30th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland took place from 11–14 September 2018 at Palais des Expositions et des Congrès (Palexpo).

The event had 5700 higher education professionals from 95 countries.

The conference programme was packed with interesting sessions, networking events and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
This year the priority countries of the conference were Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. A session on 'Mapping Internationalisation in Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic' gave us an insight into the higher education structures and developments in internationalisation in these countries.

I had a chance to represent Eszterházy Károly University as part of the Hungarian delegation. During the exhibition I managed to meet some old partners of the univerity (from the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Germany) and make some new contacts with universities from Canada, the UK, Germany, South-Korea and Bangladesh. These institutions are willing to work with us in Erasmus projects, student exchanges and traineeships.

The sessions offered during the conference were really inspiring including the one with the title 'Inside the Mind of a Chinese Student' which based on recent research and data from the International Student Barometer, gave us information about their motivations, expectations and decision-making process. We also learned about the various factors that influence the social and academic integration of Chinese students into the campuses and cultures of host institutions.
