The Members of the Parliament voted Tuesday afternoon and so the dreams cherished for several centuries seem to come true: there will be a University in Eger.
As of 1 July 2016, Eszterházy Károly College continues its dedicated work under the name of Eszterházy Károly University.
As we have reported it several times in recent months, the institution was getting closer to becoming a university.
On 1st December 2015, early afternoon the Parliament amended the Education Act stating that following the union of Eszterházy Károly College, Károly Róbert College and the Faculty of Applied and Professional Arts of Szent István University we will continue teaching and research activities in the form of a University. From 1st July 2016, this strong university starts to operate in the North-East Hungarian region under the name of Eszterházy Károly University.
From the same date another new institution, the Pallas Athena University will be established by uniting of the College of Kecskemét and the College of Szolnok.
