International Week

Caring for the relationships between partner intitutions, exchange of best practices, presentations of international life at Eszterházy Károly University. These were the most important targets of the organizers of the International Week. The university has 200 partner institutions in Eurpe, America, Asia and Africa.

Internationalization at Home was the main topic of International Week, organized by Esztárházy Károly University. More than 70 guests arrived to the event from all over the world. Taylerné Tóth Katalin, the head of the Centre for International Relations of Eszterházy Károly Univerity said, the participants of these type of events could exchange ideas, learn from each others best practices, strengthen the relationships between partner institutions and build new ones too. It also helps internationalize curriculums.

Dr. Liptai Kálmán highlighted: one of the most important targets of Eszterházy Károly Univerity, to gain greater international recognition for the institution. Actually more than 200 foreign students study on one of the 4 campuses. „We have two targets during every application period. We would like to be more popular among Hungarian and foreign students. I'm very happy, because more and more students are graduating from our university" – said the rector of Eszterházy Károly University.

During the opening lectures the presenters talked about several types of scolarship programmes that can help students of Eszterházy Károly University to study a semester or a full training abroad. Thanks to international partnerships, teachers and colleagues of the university can gain experience and study languages abroad. Thanks to the foreign students, those students too can experience the international environment, who do not want to leave the country for their studies.

Participants of the International week were able to become familiar with Eszterházy Károly University, participate in cultural programmes, a workshop of the professors and students of Florida Gulf Coast University, hear professional lectures of Martin Haigh (Oxford Brooks University) and Cheryl Francisconi (Institute of International Education) and take an excursion to Mezőkövesd.

Guests visited the Károly Róbert Campus for a day. The programme of the international week in Gyöngyös was opened by Dr. Bujdosó Zoltán. The director of the campus talked about the institute at the foot of the Mátra in a short presentation.

After it Dr. Réhty István held an intercultural training for the guests, who came from all over the world.

During the day the foreign students of the Károly Róbert Campus presented a musical programme.
