Orientation Days for international students
Last modified: 2016. February 15.
On 28-29 January 2016 the Mobility Office of the Center for International Relations organized orientation days for new international students who would study in our institution in the spring semester.
The 28 new students arrived from Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey.
Besides of "freshmen students" international students already studying here from Poland, Palestine, Tunisia and Spain also participated at the orientation programs.
The event took place in building B on Thursday afternoon, and after the formal welcome procedure presentations were held about the institution, studies and most important things to know about student life at EKU. After a short break they received information on ESN Eger and met some of the new mentors.
The second day's program focused on team building and intercultural issues: after the icebreaker games students heard presentations about Hungary and Hungarian culture. Then the group visited the sights of the Lyceum building: the assembly hall, the Chapel and the Library, where they got informed not only about the history of the library and the collections but also the process of borrowing.
The program continued with a lunch in 'Nemzeti Étterem' where international students got a taste of Hungarian cuisine and eating habits.
The orientation ended with the so-called "Survival Tour", a game which was organized by the ESN mentors in the town centre.
Foreign students will attend several out-of-class programs during the semester. To some of these international programs, such as the International Evenings or Global Cooking Night, Hungarian students are also the most welcome.
